ThermoVital - no chance for mold

To prevent from further mold and keep additional living comfort, we brought up with the internal coating ThermoVital amending our mold control system Vital Protect.

ThermoVital decreases the risk of mold using no fungicides. As a result, it presents no health risk. The Dutch TNO-Institute in Delft confirms and recommends ThermoShield for prevention after successful mold elimination.

ThermoVital can be applied like any standard paint to surfaces such as plaster, concrete, wood, metal or wallpaper. Special equipment or preparations are not required.

ThermoVital is particularly suitable for allergic persons and asthmatics as it causes no harmful and allergenic vapours.

In contrast to many other coatings, ThermoShield does not get statically charged. Thereby deposits of nicotine and dirt are clearly reduced. Even if deposits occur, they form no chemical compound with the coating. They can be removed easily by use of water and cleaning agents.

As ThermoVital regulates humidity it is also an excellent material for rooms in which a high moisture load appears such as basement rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. ThermoVital is variable in diffusion. It supports the capillary humidity transport out of walls. ThermoVital is able to store moisture and by that helps to regulate the room’s humidity.

VitalProtect

ThermoShield VitalProtect deactivates mold toxins and its allergens in the wall as well as in the air. So far no micro-organism is identified that is not inactivated by VitalProtect. The good compatibility of materials preserves the building structure.

VitalProtect is environment-friendly and absolutely safe for human organism.

Therefore the product is appropriate to all living areas even the kitchen or the children’s bedroom. The rooms are liveable immediately after the treatment.

VitalProtect shows a high disinfection potential and is not toxic. After application it degrades to its components that are original ingredients of drinking water.

After the treatment, removed wallpapers and other materials can be easily disposed with the general household waste.

To protect against increasing contamination with spores when applying VitalProtect, individual protection measures such as protective clothing and breathing masks are required.

History
 history_s

ThermoShield History is a ready-to-use and highly resistant exterior coating with endothermic properties which will satisfy the specific requirements of historic buildings. ThermoShield History is particularly suitable for the roughcast base finishes of historic buildings.

ThermoShield History = Modern monument protection

The configuration and protection of the building material represents a considerable economic challenge. Unsightly residences are not easy to let, and neglected cultural assets such as castles and towers are certainly not public attractions. There is often a lack of funding rather than a lack of will, particularly where damage symptoms have not inspired further financial commitments, even when so-called materials appropriate for monument protection were used.

ThermoShield History, with its tried and tested protection system, is available for those who wish to be really sure. The system not only clearly lengthens renovation intervals, but also prevents considerable damage.

The protective features of ThermoShield History have been proven to be superior in comparison to silicate coatings of a lime paint nature and silicate modified silicone resin coatings (see Torun test report dated 23/05/2004). The regulating and conserving effects of ThermoShield History protect the historical building materials from the natural fluctuations in temperature and moisture to which all buildings are subjected. Conventional coating systems suffer under these fluctuations - and with them, the valuable building materials. By contrast, ThermoShield History deploys its effects on even the most demanding substrates such as wood or clay, as well as under extreme climatic conditions.

ThermoShield History - moderner Denkmalschutz
The most effective dehumidification mechanism is capillary drying, where water and salt are transported to the surface of the building from the interior to the exterior. To do this, however, the exterior coating must allow this evacuation and provide an efficient "pump system" of the sorption motor type.

The long-term effects of ThermoShield History have by now been well documented, as our special coatings have been used for monument protection for 20 years. Comparative laboratory tests confirm the positive results achieved in practice with ThermoShield History. These tests include all test criteria relevant to the application.

Economical restoration and convenient living

Durability, ease of cleaning and the retention or restoration of functionality of the building materials that are worth retaining, result in quick amortisation - a category that is seldom considered in connection with paint work. ThermoShield History shows, however, that an old building with protection status need not necessarily be uneconomical. Where the natural functionality of the building material is restored over a long period of time, the energetic functions are also guaranteed as a result.

ThermoShield History- und ThermoShield Interieur Beschichtung einer Kirche in Zwolle (Niederlande)The combined warmth/moisture transport can be used to reduce heating or cooling costs due to the active surface of ThermoShield History. This is because radiation, convection and moisture influence energy consumption considerably more than can be assumed from the mere consideration of heat conduction.

Using ThermoShield History, not only residential buildings with protection status can be operated economically, but also churches, theatres, castles and other buildings. Long-term applications have shown considerable energy savings - by expending only the normal economic effort for paint restoration.

Furthermore, the expected energy savings from using ThermoShield History can be calculated by simulation.

ThermoShield History creates a healthy living environment without mold formation, allows for quick and even heat conduction in rooms and allows for airing and heating as required. In this way, ThermoShield History creates modern living convenience in historical buildings. By applying ThermoShield Interior inner coating to interior areas, the positive effects are enhanced.

Scientifically proven:
The properties and means of operation of ThermoShield products have been scientifically examined worldwide in the last 20 years. The following report from the Polish research laboratory for building preservation in Torun dated 25/05/2004 is one of the current examinations:

»Tests under various destructive conditions have shown that ThermoShield History distinguishes itself by means of extremely high stability and resistance in the chemical environments that were created. Where ThermoShield was applied, and these areas were exposed to these environments for a long period of time, no loss of hydrophobic qualities or substrate adhesion, nor any changes in color and/or aesthetic changes were noted. ThermoShield History has proved itself to be extremely resistant in cases of extreme temperature and moisture fluctuations, frost and irrigation. No formation of cracks, peeling or color changes in the coating could be determined.«

Technical feature overview in the comparative examination with silicate and silicone paints
The research laboratory for monument protection in Torun tested three coatings: ThermoShield History, dispersion silicate paints and silicone resin paints.

Resistance to water, acid and alkaline environments
ThermoShield History is more resistant, particularly to the crystallisation effect of water soluble salts. Dispersion silicate paints and silicone resin paints showed peeling and discolorations.

Drying characteristics
ThermoShield History dries the substrate (especially lime sandstone) more gently and carefully than the compared paints.

Sanftere Kapillartrocknung mit ThermoShield History

Frost resistance with changes in moisture
ThermoShield History is more resistant than the compared paints. Silicone resin paint peels and dispersion silicate paint displays discolorations.

Pollution characteristics in outdoor weathering (winter industrial climate)

Pollution can be removed from ThermoShield History by means of water. Deposits (particularly soot) cannot be removed from dispersion silicate paints and silicone resin paints.

Hydrophobic properties
ThermoShield History has proved to be the most waterproof coating. Multiple repetitions of the test provided an unexpected result: dispersion silicate paint was shown to be more waterproof than silicate resin paint. The surfuce hydroscopy factor in dispersion silicate paint is approximately 50% lower than in silicone resin paint. The factor for ThermoShield History in turn is approximately 25% lower than for dispersion silicate paint.

ThermoShield History, the modern protection system for the protection of monuments and buildings, meets even the highest demands. Allow yourself to be quickly and easily convinced by applying a test coating.

Practical experience and laboratory tests confirm: ThermoShield History is a protection system that regenerates the weather-affected substrate of the facade and thus permanently protects it from further weather demage. The natural moisture balance of the facade is retained and is not affected by moisture diffusion barriers.
